eSIM

What is eSIM?

eSIM is a digital SIM embedded in your phone or smartwatch that allows you to activate a mobile number without using a physical SIM.

Benefits

With an eSIM, you can accommodate multiple phone numbers, which you can add, delete and configure right from your phone's settings. In contrast, a physical SIM needs to be physically removed and replaced.

For example, you will now be able to switch between private and business numbers in one phone without physically swapping the SIM cards.

How to activate eSIM
  • Visit any Etisalat outlet to register the eSIM to your phone
  • Get the QR code from My Etisalat UAE app (existing number) or an Etisalat agent (new number)
  • Scan the QR code on the phone you would like to activate the eSIM on

Step by step transfer/activate

Existing iPhone eSIM customer who would like to get a new eSIM for the new iPhone:
Choose from one of the following options:

  1. Visit any Etisalat store
  2. Follow the below steps through the iPhone setting:
    1. Sign in on your new iPhone with the same Apple ID as your old iPhone". Kindly make sure: Two factor Authentication is enabled- iMessage is enabled
    2. On the new iPhone, navigate to the Apple iPhone settings > Cellular.
    3. The mobile number of the existing iPhone is displayed.
    4. Tap the mobile number and tap the Add Cellular Plan button. The Etisalat Login Page will appear.
    5. Log in with your Etisalat credentials on your new iPhone.
    6. Navigate to the Transfer eSIM page. The system informs the customer that the eSIM will be deleted from the old device.
    7. Tap the Next button to continue
    8. (Confirm one-time charge of AED 25)
      For Postpaid customers, the eSIM charges of AED 25 will be added to the monthly bill.
      For Prepaid customers, the eSIM charges of AED 25 will be deducted from them
    9. Select the Check Box to accept the Terms & Conditions
    10. Tap the Accept button to continue. A Confirmation Pop-up appears.
    11. Tap the Yes button to continue.
    12. The eSIM will be downloaded to the new iPhone.

Visit any Etisalat outlet and connect your phone to the internet.

From your iPhone

Make sure your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR is updated to iOS 12.1 and above

  • Scan the QR code provided by our agent
  • Go to Settings > Cellular
  • Select “Add Cellular Plan” to launch the camera automatically
  • Use your iPhone to scan the QR code

From your Samsung

  • Scan the QR code provided by our agent
  • Go to Settings > SIM Card Manager
  • Select eSIM > Add Mobile Plan to launch the camera automatically
  • Use your Galaxy phone to scan the QR code

Your eSIM is ready to use.

  1. Insert your physical SIM in your phone
  2. Visit any Etisalat outlet and connect your phone to the internet
  3. Log in to the My Etisalat UAE app (you can download the app here)
  4. Select “Activate your eSIM” from the dashboard
  5. Click on “Activate eSIM”
  6. Once this option is selected, your physical SIM will be deactivated
  7. Your QR code will be displayed on the screen
  8. Share this QR code with another device as it requires scanning it from your phone

From your iPhone

Make sure your iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR is updated to iOS 12.1 and above

  • Scan your QR code
  • Go to Settings > Cellular
  • Select “Add Cellular Plan” to launch the camera automatically
  • Use your iPhone to scan the QR code

From your Samsung

  • Scan the QR code provided by our agent
  • Go to Settings > SIM Card Manager
  • Select eSIM > Add Mobile Plan to launch the camera automatically
  • Use your Galaxy phone to scan the QR code

From your Apple Watch

  • You'll need an iPhone 6 model or above
  • Check whether you are eligible (prepaid or postpaid mobile) by sending SMS ‘eSim’ to 1012 or by calling 101
  • Pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone
  • Log in your Etisalat account username and password. If you need help with creating an account, call 101
  • Make sure you read about the plan and agree to the Terms & Conditions
  • Confirm your subscription and wait for the eSIM request verification SMS
  • If you don't have a plan during set up, contact us and we will help you find one that works best for you

Your eSIM is now ready to use

Important to know: A new QR code is required if you need to switch your phone. For security reasons, please do not share the QR code with anyone. We will never ask you to share it with any of our Etisalat agents.
